iD Tech Summer Camp - UC Irvine

Instructor (summer 2011)

Instructed week long summer camp courses for students aged 10 to 18. Responsible for supervising groups of 8-10 children during the day. Parent showcases at the end of each week where students presented their final projects and I answered parent questions.

Courses:
Programming in C++ or Java (
5 weeks) - Taught fundamentals of programming in C++ and Java (student's choice) using Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express and Eclipse. Covered variables, operators, conditionals, loops, simple input/output. More advanced students learned classes and pointers. Students final projects consisted of simple text based applications and games, such as Hangman or Tic Tac Toe.


Game Design for iPhone and iPad
(2 weeks) - Instructed students how to create simple games using GameSalad software. How to create scenes and actors and how to add behaviors, rules, and attributes.


RPG Game Design with Neverwinter Nights 2 (1 week) - Taught students how to design an RPG using Neverwinter Nights 2 Aurora toolset. How to create interior and exterior scenes with terrain and tile editors. How to add and edit NPCs and conversations, encounters, creatures, triggers, lighting.
